Most of newbies are more interested in knowing how much one may need to start trading... The answer to that depends on many aspects, the answer to that depends on the extend to which you did your research... There are multiple things that you need to bare in mind before expecting an answer to such a question as forex us dynamic and rates change from time to time...

You need to have a broker to be able to register real/live account, your deposit depends on the rate, the current cost of $1 in rands... It could be 14.13 or 14.98 for you to buy $1. Meaning if you start with $50 you'll need $50*14.13 or 14.98 to convert it to rands. The rate changes from time to time.
