Woolpert-Southern Mapping Geospatial Internship 2022

Based in Johannesburg, this internship role is structured to provide GIS experience with the aid of the latest technology in ESRI GIS products and functionalities. The successful candidate will be utilizing  GIS products to provide assistance and gain knowledge directly  from GIS professionals.

Duties and responsibilities

• Process current aerial imagery datasets and obtain data for statistical study  in photogrammetry packages (e.g. ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop, Micro Station)
• Collect spatial data to undergo cleansing, experimentation and capturing including digitizing
• Deliver mapping as well as conservation planning in support of active projects
• Conduct spatial analysis
• Render monthly training progress reports
• Carry out technical activities according to training plans

 

Who should apply?

Applicants are required to meet the following minimum eligibility criteria and behavioural/skills requirements of the role to qualify:

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate study in Geography, Geomantics, Environmental Studies, Geology, or any relevant degree at a recognized college or university
• Solid verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Outstanding time management and multitasking abilities
• Basic knowledge of geographic information systems
• Proactive, energetic, and eager to learn
• Amenable to signing an internship contract
