Founded in 1953, St. Stithians (commonly called as Saints) is one of the top performing privately-run schools in South Africa. It is a Methodist learning institution that observes a co-ordinate educational system within a group of schools composed of a junior preparatory, or boys’ and girls’ prep schools and colleges. It is one of the largest campuses in the country and is built on a 100-hectare estate

Established in 2005, the Thadulwazi Trust Maths and Science Academy is an undertaking by St. Stithians College which offers programmes that promote educational development among teachers and students in public schools within greater Johannesburg.

St. Stithians College Teacher Internship 2023

The St. Stithians College Teacher Internship is a joint project between Thandulwazi Trust and St. Stithians College that seeks to provide prospective teachers the opportunity to pursue a 4-year B. Education qualification, or a 2-year PGCE (postgraduate certificate in education) through a long-distance scheme with public tertiary education institutions while acquiring actual work experience at St. Stithians College at the same time.

The St. Stithians College Teacher Internship 2023 also provides the following benefits  to successful candidates based on their financial needs assessment:

  • Tuition fee coverage and textbook allowance
  • Conference or workshop allowance
  • Daily meal allowance
  • A monthly stipend

Who should apply?

Candidates who meet the following will be given priority during the selection process.

  • Keen interest in pursuing part-time studies towards a Bachelor’s degree in Foundation and Intermediate Phase, Senior and FET Phase, Senior and Intermediate Phase, and a 2-year PGCE
  • Currently in Grade 12 and eager to pursue a teaching degree, completed Grade 12 with a Bachelor’s pass and have passed admission to a public tertiary education institution, currently pursuing a teaching qualification, or have successfully completed an undergraduate qualification and looking to take a PGCE
  • Must be a South African citizen
