Artisan Electrician
Company
Nicolor® South Plant, one of South Africa's largest privately owned gold processing facilities. The plant is part of a diversified Family Office Group and focuses on gold processing, plant maintenance, and operational excellence.
Main Purpose of the Role
The Electrician will be responsible for:
- Installing, inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment.
- Maintaining plant machinery, control systems, and power distribution equipment.
- Performing preventative and reactive maintenance.
- Supporting plant shutdowns and maintenance projects.
- Ensuring compliance with electrical safety standards and company procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- Recognized Electrician Trade Test Certificate.
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- N2 Certificate in Electrical Engineering or higher.
- Valid driver's licence.
- PLC, VSD, industrial electrical systems training (advantageous).
- Medium Voltage (MV) switching qualification (advantageous).
Experience Required
- Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience as a qualified Electrician.
- Essential experience in:
- Mining
- Gold processing
- Mineral processing
- Heavy industrial environments
- Experience with motors, pumps, conveyors, crushers, MCCs, VSDs, switchgear, transformers, and industrial electrical maintenance.
Key Skills
- Electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting.
- Reading electrical drawings and circuit diagrams.
- Knowledge of MCCs, VSDs, and motor control systems.
- Understanding of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Strong safety awareness.
- Good communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Routine inspection and maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Repair electrical faults and breakdowns.
- Maintain motors, pumps, conveyors, crushers, and control systems.
- Participate in planned maintenance and shutdowns.
- Conduct safe electrical work according to MHSA and company standards.
- Complete maintenance records and reports accurately.
Working Environment
- Industrial gold processing plant.
- Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and wet conditions.
- Requires adherence to strict safety standards and use of PPE.
