Job Summary

PG Bison is seeking a skilled and solutions-driven Electrician to join its engineering and maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for electrical maintenance, repairs, installations, fault finding, and supporting production operations to ensure equipment reliability and minimal downtime.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

• Recognized Electrical Trade Certificate.
• N6 or T4 qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations.
• Knowledge of PLC systems.
• Experience working with SCADA systems.
• Understanding of Variable Speed Drives (VSDs).
• Knowledge of Allen-Bradley, SEW, and Siemens systems.
• Experience in industrial electrical fault finding and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical manuals.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Manufacturing or industrial production experience will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Maintenance, Repairs and Installations

• Conduct electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations.
• Perform inspections and identify electrical defects.
• Test and commission equipment after repairs.
• Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.

Maintenance Planning

• Execute preventative maintenance schedules.
• Participate in plant shutdowns and planned maintenance activities.
• Complete maintenance tasks within required timelines.

PLC, SCADA and VSD Support

• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment.
• Support SCADA systems used in production processes.
• Diagnose and repair VSD and motor control issues.
• Maintain automated production and control systems.

Fault Finding and Troubleshooting

• Diagnose faults affecting machinery and equipment.
• Use electrical testing instruments to identify problems.
• Determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Test repaired equipment before returning it to service.

Resource and Work Planning

• Request tools, spare parts, and materials when required.
• Plan maintenance activities to avoid delays.
• Support operational continuity through proper preparation.

Equipment and Spare Parts Management

• Maintain tools and testing equipment.
• Monitor spare parts usage and requirements.
• Ensure good housekeeping in work areas.

Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement

• Investigate recurring equipment failures.
• Conduct root cause analysis.
• Recommend maintenance improvements and engineering solutions.
• Support projects that improve production efficiency.

Production Support

• Work closely with production teams.
• Reduce equipment breakdowns and downtime.
• Improve equipment reliability and availability.
• Contribute to operational performance targets.

Health and Safety

• Follow all electrical safety regulations and company procedures.
• Use appropriate PPE.
• Follow isolation and lockout procedures.
• Identify and report hazards and unsafe conditions.
