The BAT External Affairs Internship in South Africa is a great opportunity for qualified candidates to gain substantial exposure inactive projects within the Company’s Legal and External Affairs division within a 12-month period. The External Affairs Intern role is based in Heidelberg, Gauteng, and will provide the Intern with a range of challenging tasks. In addition, the External Intern will be provided with daily coaching from the assignment manager that will help develop the intern’s leadership and business acumen.
Who should apply?
Applicants are required to have the following basic eligibility requirements should they wish to pursue this internship:
- A recent tertiary education graduate of no more than 1year
- Ambitious, driven, and eager to learn
- Possesses exceptional communication skills
- Solid understanding of MS Office apps particularly Excel
- Preferably with experience in modeling (e.g. background in Taxation)
What is the selection process?
British American Tobacco employs a number of pre-screening activities when selecting new hires and are as follows:
The first half of the pre-screening phase involves an online test which is basically a series of games that profiles an applicant’s cognitive, behavioral, and social traits.
The other half of the pre-screening phase is the screening interview. The interview may be done over the phone or a recorded video interview.
The next step in the application process is the selection phase and is broken down into two parts: face-to-face interview and assessment centre.
The face-to-face interview involves a selection of topics that often references the Company’s leadership capabilities.
The final phase of the selection process is the assessment centre which will showcase the role’s description as well as the applicant as being a contributing member.
